Iran Condemns Israeli Strikes on Syria, Calls Out UN Inaction – Politics news

Iran has strongly denounced the latest Israeli airstrikes on Syrian territory, as a blatant act of aggression and a direct consequence of the UN Security Council’s failure to respond decisively.

“The Israeli regime has never faced any consequences for its repeated and systematic violations of international law and continues its aggression with full impunity,” said Iran’s Permanent Representative to the UN while addressing a Security Council session on the situation in the Middle East (Syria).

He stated that the Security Council’s inaction has emboldened Israel to escalate tensions by launching repeated airstrikes, including attacks targeting Damascus and Syria’s civil infrastructure.

“These military attacks are taking place while the Israeli occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights continues,” Iravani said.

He emphasized that Israel has pursued policies of illegal annexation and settlement expansion for decades, in violation of the UN Charter and multiple Security Council resolutions.

He added that Israel poses “the most serious and dangerous threat” to regional peace and security, citing its military aggressions and the unconditional political and military support it receives from the United States and certain Western countries.

“These states must take full responsibility for enabling the Israeli regime’s illegal acts and atrocities,” Iravani noted.

He described the attacks on Syria as an extension of the Israeli regime’s earlier twelve-day military campaign against Iran.

“These recent aggressions represent a grave breach of the UN Charter and international law,” he said.

He further condemned the Zionist regime for deliberately targeting Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, hospitals, and residential areas, killing over 1,100 civilians, including 41 children and 126 women.

“Seven hospitals, eleven ambulances, and over 3,500 residential units were completely destroyed in these attacks,” Iravani stated.

He said these facts indicate “undeniable evidence” of Israel’s criminal and aggressive nature.

Iravani warned that the roots of instability in the region lie in Israel’s ongoing occupation, repeated aggressions, and systemic violations of international law—backed by the unwavering support of a permanent Security Council member.

“It is time for the Security Council to fulfill its responsibility under the UN Charter, end Israeli impunity, and hold the regime accountable for its repeated violations,” he said.

He criticized the Council’s continued silence, especially in light of Israel’s criminal conduct in Gaza, where it has committed mass atrocities and used starvation as a weapon of war.

Iravani reaffirmed Iran’s full support for Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He called on the Syrian interim government to respect the rights of all minorities and resolve internal differences through inclusive dialogue and peaceful means.

He concluded by saying that Israel has no legal or moral basis to interfere in Syria’s domestic affairs under the pretense of protecting minority rights.

“The Israeli regime has no legal or moral justification for violating Syria’s sovereignty or interfering in its internal affairs under the deceptive pretext of protecting minority rights,” Iravani said. “Such unlawful actions constitute a clear violation of international law and the UN Charter and must be unequivocally condemned by this Council.”
