Iran Ready to Work with Pakistan to Uproot Terrorism along Common Border – Politics news

In a telephone conversation with Chief of the Army Staff of Pakistan’s Army Field Marshal Asim Munir on Tuesday, Major General Mousavi highlighted the importance of securing the Iran-Pakistan border.

“Unfortunately, terrorist activities on both sides of the border have increased. We are prepared to cooperate in order to root out terrorism in the region and establish security along our shared frontier,” he said.

Mousavi also praised Pakistan for its support for Iran during the recent 12-day war imposed by the Israeli regime and the US, noting that Tehran and Islamabad must now translate their cooperation into concrete action against terrorist groups.

“A series of steps have already been taken, but they must be intensified and past shortcomings addressed,” he added.

On broader bilateral ties, Major General Mousavi said the relations between Iran and Pakistan at various levels, especially at the top levels, exemplify true brotherhood.

He also conveyed condolences to the people of Pakistan over the recent fatal floods, expressing the Iranian Armed Forces’ readiness to provide any assistance within their capacity.

For his part, Field Marshal Asim Munir voiced full agreement with Iran’s concerns about border security, saying, “We must transform the Pakistan-Iran border into one of friendship, brotherhood, and economic development, and we will certainly achieve this through cooperation.”

The Pakistani top commander also appreciated the top Iranian general’s sympathy with the Pakistani nation and offered condolences over the martyrdom of Iranian Police servicemen in a recent terrorist attack in Sistan and Balouchestan Province.
