President Urges Armenia to Consider Iran’s Concerns regarding Recent Agreement – Politics news

Speaking on Tuesday during a high-level meeting between Iranian and Armenian delegations in Yerevan, Pezeshkian reaffirmed the Iranian government’s determination to deepen relations with Armenia and expressed readiness to finalize a long-term strategic cooperation agreement.

The president noted that bilateral relations are expanding across multiple sectors and underlined the need for greater exchanges and consultations between officials to overcome obstacles and ensure the effective implementation of joint agreements.

Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran and Armenia share profound historical, cultural, and civilizational ties, providing a strong foundation for further cooperation based on mutual benefit.

Referring to the trilateral memorandum signed by Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the United States, Pezeshkian reiterated that Iran expects its concerns and sensitivities to be respected, adding that Tehran has always supported stability and peace in the Caucasus region.

Welcoming Pezeshkian and his delegation, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, said Yerevan remains committed to preserving its historic and friendly ties with Iran.

Pashinyan stressed that Iran and Armenia possess complementary capacities that must be utilized for the benefit of both nations.

Highlighting the strategic value of Armenia’s shared border with Iran, he affirmed that cooperation with Tehran, grounded in good neighborliness and friendship, is of utmost importance.

“Without a doubt, Iran’s considerations will be observed in the construction of any new corridor,” Pashinyan said, adding that Armenia is ready to conclude a long-term strategic cooperation document with Iran.

On Tuesday, Pezeshkian was formally welcomed in Yerevan by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the presidential palace to sign key agreements reflecting shared interests and to address what Tehran sees as serious concerns over the United States’ presence in the region.
