Iran, EU3 Agree to Continue Consultations on Key Disputes – Politics news

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi announced the outcome following discussions in Istanbul with political directors from the UK, France, and Germany.

“Together with Dr. Takht Ravanchi, we held a serious, frank, and detailed discussion with the E3/EU PDs,” Gharibabadi wrote on X.

He said the two sides reviewed recent developments related to sanctions relief and the nuclear file.

Gharibabadi added that Tehran delivered sharp criticism of European positions on “the recent war of aggression against our people,” and outlined Iran’s firm stance, including its view on the “so-called snapback mechanism.”

“Both sides came to the meeting with specific ideas, the various aspects of which were examined. It was agreed that consultations on this matter will continue,” he wrote.

The European delegation departed the Iranian consulate in Istanbul after the session concluded.

European diplomats arrived Friday morning for the discussions, marking the second round of Iran-E3 talks in Istanbul at the deputy foreign minister level.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Ministers Majid Takht Ravanchi and Kazem Gharibabadi led Tehran’s delegation.

On Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi stated that Iran would firmly defend the nation’s right to peaceful nuclear energy, particularly uranium enrichment.

“The world should know that we will continue to steadfastly defend the rights of the Iranian people in peaceful nuclear energy, particularly enrichment,” Araqchi said
